Hi Brick News subscribers, I got an interesting email from BrickLink regarding excess sets from series 1 & 2 going on sale soon for members in Australia, New Zealand & Japan... so if this interests you I'd suggest registering for BrickLink emails for this unique opportunity for picking up a set that is no longer in production, or for sale other than by those who originally ordered the sets and are now selling them off (and at outrageously inflated prices at that!)
The full email with FAQs is below to satisfy your curiosity if you aren't on the BrickLink emailing list already, and it warns that it will only be a limited number of sets and that it is only sets that were from cancelled orders, and 'backup' sets (they must make extra just in case a set is lost or damaged during the shipping process)... but this means that it could likely be an ongoing opportunity for series 3 and onwards as well, therefore is something to keep an eye out for if there is a set you regret missing out on!
Happy LEGO building these holidays... and prepare your budget and alarms for the sale date next week!

We’ve got a surprise for you! Excess BrickLink® Designer Program (BDP) sets from Series 1 and 2 go on sale next week for members in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
As part of our production process, we sometimes have a small number of excess BDP sets from cancelled orders and extra sets produced to replace lost and damaged shipments. That’s the case for the BDP Series 1 and 2 sets.
Inventory is very limited, so don’t miss your chance to buy one of these rare fan-designed sets! Below, you’ll find a link to the sale you can save, which will go live December 16th, 2025, at 9 AM AEDT. We’ll also send you a follow-up email the day of the sale.
FAQ
How can I check if excess BDP sets are available?
In order to receive a link to order Excess Stock sets, you need to be subscribed to marketing emails from BrickLink. You will find a link in the email you received about the extra BDP sets. Click the link, choose any of the sets listed, and you’ll be taken to LEGO.com. To add additional sets to your cart, you will need to navigate back to the BrickLink website.
Why are there extra BDP sets available, and how often does this happen?
The number of available sets consists of the limited quantity of cancelled orders and extra sets produced to replace lost and damaged shipments. We can only make these extra sets available when all pre-orders have been fulfilled. Excess set sales will occur roughly 3 months after orders are fulfilled for each market and may occur at different times for each region. Please note that due to extended shipping times in APAC markets, excess set sales will occur later than EMEA/AMS markets.
Are BDP sets restocked after selling out?
Currently, there are no plans to produce additional sets beyond the initial production run.
Who can purchase these extra BDP sets?
BrickLink members in the select markets serviced by LEGO.com for each sale have the opportunity to get their hands on these very limited number of sets.
Is there a limit on how many sets can be purchased?
Yes, there is a limit. You can buy one (1) of each of the sets available.
How do I place an order for an extra BDP set?
When the extra BDP sets are made available, you will click on any of the sets listed on the web page (link found in the email you received) and you’ll be taken to LEGO.com. Once there you will be able to see if the set is sold out or not.
What payment methods are accepted for BDP sets?
To see a list of all the available payment methods, please visit the “Payment Methods” page on LEGO.com: https://www.lego.com/en-us/page/payment-methods.
Will there be more extra sets from future BDP series?
It is possible that additional sets will become available in the future. You will be notified via email when this occurs.
How can I stay updated on new BDP set releases and availability?
To stay updated on future BDP set availability, you need to be subscribed to BrickLink Marketing News. To subscribe, please visit "My Contact Settings" at https://www.bricklink.com/pref_contact.asp, then scroll to the bottom and check the "BrickLink Marketing News" box under Personalized Marketing.
I placed an order and received an email confirmation, when will my order ship?
Orders are not guaranteed until you receive a shipping confirmation email, which should happen within a few business days. Please note that due to limited quantities, high demand, and system limitations, confirmed orders can potentially be cancelled if stock is no longer available. Orders will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sets that sell out quickly have a higher chance of having a small percentage of orders cancelled due to insufficient stock.
