Hi LEGO fans all around Sydney, Australia! This post is for you…
This coming weekend is an event called Brickbuilt Sydney, and it is run by SydLUG (Sydney LEGO User Group). The event is an annual occurrence and supports the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation.
If you haven’t already got plans, then book yourself a ticket… or take the whole family for an outing to enjoy some great displays by some expert LEGO builders. Apparently there are some members of SydLUG who have taken part in the TV show ‘LEGO Masters Australia’, one of the winners from season one is amongst their ranks I am told!
Tickets for Brickbuilt are $15 for adults (15yrs+) and $10 for children aged 4-14yrs (under 4yrs are free).
Click here to go to the website: https://brickbuilt.sydney/
Here is some other details about the event…
• A family-friendly event suitable for all ages
• Hundreds of exhibits on display created with LEGO bricks
• Speak to the builders for insider tips and stories of their hobby
• Free brick play area
• Food and drinks will be available on site
'SYDLUG INC is a not-for-profit community group that creates family-friendly events for all ages. Our displays are fan-built LEGO creations of high quality and appeal to many interests.
Our primary function is fundraising for community groups such as schools and charities.'
To learn more about the SydLUG group head to https://www.sydlug.com/ where you can also book them for your own charity or school event, or perhaps look to join them as a member yourself (I have recently contacted them personally, and will likely have a couple of members come and display at a small community LEGO Expo I am organising in August… They have been good to deal with and quite helpful with ideas already).
My family and I are heading to Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, where the event is taking place, so if you decide to come along then look out for me wearing my Brick News shirt and say G’day!!And for those who can’t make it this weekend, I will write up another article afterwards and share my experience, some photos, and maybe a video of some of the MOCs on display.
Below are some of their previous LEGO creations to give you a taste of what might be on offer at Brickbuilt Sydney.
Hope you have a great time at the event!!
