Hey Sydneysiders, I'm running an event on the morning of August 31 in North Kellyville.
It would be great to have some of you come and say G'day if you are in the area, and if any of you have a LEGO build you would love to display that would be amazing! I have about 5 members of SydLUG joining me, and a number of friends bringing some of their favourite LEGO sets to show-off. I am personally putting together some of my Star Wars sets to create a bit of a scene on Tatooine.
There is also a build competition with prizes, with a focus on encouraging school aged kids to build a MOC prior to the event.
Frase, the Brick News director, has sent me some goodies to give away as prizes too... Thanks Frase!!
Below are some more details for those interested:
Location: 4 Gum Nut cl, North Kellyville
Time: 8am - 12pm
Carparking available onsite, or street parking available if carpark is full.
Free entry into event, but donations for entry into prize draw, and fundraising stall onsite, so bring some cash with you if you'd like to support the event.
This event is an opportunity for fans of LEGO in our community to show some of their favourite builds, either official LEGO sets or MOCs, including some created by expert builders from SydLUG!
There will be a 'creative corner' where kids can play with building blocks, and the expo is a space where you can chat with others who love LEGO as well.
Contact the organiser if you would like to bring your favourite sets and display them.
Chances to Win LEGO!!
There will be a number of chances to win a LEGO set:
1 - Bring something YOU have designed and built yourself to be judged at the expo (with age category winners).
2 - Join the mystery build competition on the day.
3 - Donate cash for entries into random prize draws.
There will be some build competitions, the main one being something YOU design/create/built prior to the Expo, then bring your masterpiece along on the day to be judged by the SydLUG members. This is not an official LEGO set you show, but your own creation (MOC = My Own Creation), it can be any size you choose and any theme you want. There will be 3 prizes for this competition: a primary school aged winner, a high school aged winner, and an open aged best-in-show winner 🏆 (though this may change depending on entrants).
When you arrive on the Sunday, August 31, you will have to opportunity to donate some cash and have your name put into a random prize draw.
It might be wise to register your child's name for the small mystery build comp, as we might find it very popular and have to limit numbers.
There will be something edible at the Kellyville Pathfinder fund-raising stall as well, so please bring some money to support them and have a morning snack!
