Heavily rumored to be releasing on the 1st of March, 2023, we've seen numerous rumors swirling around the huge 10316 LEGO The Lord of the Rings Rivendell set yet to be announced. Here's what we know in short:

Set Number: 10316

Price: $750 AUD - Subject to official confirmation

Piece Count: 6167

Artist: Jerry Vanderstelt

While Rivendell makes for an exciting location to bring to us in LEGO form, a lot of fans have raised concerns that the set could be microscale. For those unaware, microscale sets are sets that are shrunk-down, meaning that minifigures are too large to fit into them. Since all of the remaining LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets retired back in 2015, fans have been urging LEGO to bring back the popular theme and continue its run, keen to continue collecting more iconic locations and minifigures.

Some content creators have remained optimistic that the set will indeed be minifigure scale, however this is difficult to believe when looking at sets with a similar piece count. The UCS Razor Crest from the Star Wars theme has a piece count of 6187, just 20 more pieces than the rumored Rivendell set, yet is priced at $900 AUD, $150 more than the rumored LOTR set.

Furthermore, when looking at the 71043 Hogwarts Castle, the price point on the castle is $700 with a piece count of 6120 - both of these being very close figures to the rumored Rivendell set.

While we want to remain optimistic, it's wiser to look at these comparisons and draw the obvious conclusion - the LEGO Rivendell set is more likely going to be a microscale build than a minifgure scale build. While this will be disappointing for many fans out there, it is worth noting the Hogwarts Castle microscale set still featured 4 minifigures, and this gives us hope that LEGO could launch a full wave of minifigure scale sets either mid or late 2023.

We'll put out an update when we hear more, but with rumors suggesting this set will launch at the beginning of March, we'll likely have official set images to show off within the next two months. Stay tuned.
