With the Ahsoka series coming up in just 2 months, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss the Star Wars Rebels TV show and why now is a good time to watch it. For those of you unfamiliar, Star Wars Rebels is an animated, four-seasons-long show set a few years before Star Wars: A New Hope.

For readers familiar with the series, it may come as a shock that a big Star Wars fan like myself only recently watched the series for the first time a few weeks ago. I was put off from watching the show due to the art style and infamous 'helicopter lightsabers' that are seen in very few moments throughout the show. However, I was able to get past that and binge watched the entire series in just a few days after an interview with Dave Filoni revealed that he thinks of the new Ahsoka live-action series as "Rebels Season 5."

After seeing that clip from the interview, I decided to suck it up and watch the series, which was surprisingly entertaining albeit some filler here and there. The most engaging scenes would be the space battles, which are constant and refreshing after many other Star Wars shows and movies in recent years have lacked them (except the amazing one we got in Rogue One, of course).
But why should you watch Rebels? The simple answer is because Ahsoka will follow on from the events of the show, and watching it will update you on the backstory behind Ahsoka's main objectives, the different crew members and fill in your knowledge as a whole. In the Ahsoka trailer, we've already seen Sabine Wren, one of the main protagonists of Rebels and a Mandalorian from Clan Wren.
We've also seen another live-action member of the Rebels crew in season 3 of the Mandalorian. To viewers that had never seen Rebels before, this crossover wouldn't have registered and this would simply appear to be another rebel pilot. But to fans of the animated show, this was an awesome surprise appearance and a hint that he would make a return in the upcoming Ahsoka series.

To top it off, we also know that both Hera Syndulla and Ezra Bridger will make their first live-action appearances in the Ahsoka series as well. Watching Rebels now is a great idea if you'd like the backstory behind each of these characters and to know what Ahsoka's primary goal is in the new show. Rebels will also give you a look at the primary antagonist for the upcoming Ahsoka series, that we'll avoid naming to prevent spoilers.
While it's a bit late to pick these up now, there are multiple existing LEGO Star Wars: Rebels products on the secondhand market. These include 14 sets and 4 polybags.

Ahsoka starts streaming in August on Disney+ and will debut alongside several LEGO sets, including 75357 The Ghost, 75362 Ahsoka's T-6 Shuttle and a 75364, an unknown Ahsoka set that we believe is the main ship of one of the antagonists. Keep an eye on Brick News for further updates on upcoming LEGO Star Wars sets.
