The Force Burner Snowspeeder #75414 Review - Rebuild the Galaxy series

If you have kids who like Star Wars, and you have the Disney channel, then you should watch ‘Rebuild the Galaxy’ with them. I was talking with my son and he pointed out that it was one of the only LEGO animated series that had entire scenes designed with LEGO pieces (unlike shows like Ninjago or LEGO City, for example, which are only really the characters and a few other bits that are LEGO in appearance), and the characters move like they are made out of LEGO more than in other similar shows too.

The latest season, ‘Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past’, has had another small wave of LEGO sets released to accompany the TV series. Previous sets from series one were The Dark Falcon, TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up, and Jedi Bob’s Starfighter, but this time there is only the one LEGO set (which is a little unfortunate for those who enjoy a twist on the regular Star Wars sets LEGO offer year in year out).

Brick News surprised me with this review set for Christmas, ‘The Force Burner Snowspeeder’, and I finally got to build it over the holiday break. I also wanted to find my other LEGO snowspeeder to give you a comparison of the two builds in the photos.

The Force Burner Snowspeeder is a nice build, and like it’s snowy cousins it is also a good-looking design. Traditionalists won’t like this style of Star Wars sets I’m guessing, but for the general LEGO enthusiasts will like the variety that this type of Star Wars set brings to their collection.

It is not just the colours that are different, fiery instead of the usual white and grey, but this design also has a removable rear-seat/speeder-bike; the speeder-bike unclips from below with the passenger still attached, and off they can go to flank the enemy.

The windshield is one large piece, another difference from the 2014 #75049 version of the snowspeeder, and is very easy to open and close compared to the other model I have.

There were a number of stickers to apply in this set, the trickiest being the longer ones for the ‘fins’, one on each side of the two ‘fins’, and at least to start with I found it a little frustrating trying to get them straight and according to my sticker standards.

It is not a difficult set to construct, but it is nice to have some angles to put together with the wing attachments. I also liked the building the engines, these are very similar to the snowspeeder, and they look great. The speeder-bike clipping in under the main Force Burner vehicle is a nice idea, though the minifigure is difficult to remove whilst it is attached in this way, and I found that removing the speeder-bike was necessary to get the figure out without it pulling apart.

Set 75414 comes with 3 unique minifigures; Sig Greebling (with the only trans-orange lightsaber in LEGO existence according to BrickLink archives) and Darth Dev (red lightsaber) are both different versions of the Rebuild the Galaxy series 1 LEGO releases, and the introduction of the powerful Solitus with his purple lightsabers is a great inclusion (the only other Star Wars minifigures with purple lightsabers are the various versions of Mace Windu, and Lys Solay from the Young Jedi Adventures series).

Solitus has his own STAP (Single Trooper Aerial Platform… I had to search up the name), though my son claims the scene displayed on the box cover never took place in the show, and he thinks that Solitus may not have even used one in the series (at least not the way it portrays on the box), but it makes for an extra vehicle and play feature which is nice.

I give the Force Burner set a thumbs-up, and have displayed it alongside the traditional snowspeeder on my shelf at home. It may not be a set for the typical Star Wars LEGO fan due to this spin-off style twist on the Star Wars universe, giving us lesser known characters and an unusual Star Wars colour scheme… But it is a fun set, like the TV show itself, and I think the new generation of Star Wars LEGO fans will love it.
