LEGO Star Wars Need to Make a Stinger Mantis

Writer: FraseFrase

If you've played Jedi: Survivor (which just released last week) or Jedi: Fallen Order, you know exactly what we're talking about. The Stinger Mantis is our protagonist's main ship throughout the course of both games, allowing you to travel via hyperspace to whichever planet you desire to visit next.

So far, LEGO Star Wars has only released one set based on the video game, which was a buildable version of BD-1, Cal Kestis' trusty droid companion. We are yet to receive any other sets or even minifigures from the popular video games. With Jedi: Fallen Order now being almost 4 years old, it's fair enough that LEGO wouldn't do a set based on that game this late. But with its sequel, Jedi: Survivor releasing only last week, it seems like a huge missed opportunity that LEGO didn't capitalize on its release and launch a set to coincide with it.

It's also not unreasonable to think LEGO could easily introduce a small set with a few purge trooper minifigures and add Cal and BD-1 in to form a mini set based on the video game. Fans have been itching to get these characters in LEGO form for years, and it wouldn't take much effort from the LEGO Star Wars design team to make a small set with these characters.

The two primary reasons we were given when Fallen Order launched with no sets were:

a) The LEGO design team wasn't sure how popular the video game would be, and;

b) They were concerned the game would be too violent and wouldn't be suitable to base sets on.

And yes, this is the same LEGO Star Wars design team that created the Obi-Wan vs Darth Vader set, based on an episode of the Disney+ show Kenobi, where Darth Vader force chokes and snaps the neck of an innocent civilian. C'mon LEGO, these excuses may have worked the first time around but you're not fooling anyone now.

You can purchase Jedi: Survivor on PC, Xbox Series X or PS5 now. Keep an eye on our blog for more LEGO news.
