The third Brick News build competition is here! This article will cover all you need to know, including the rules surrounding the competition, how to enter and give some tips and tricks on how to maximise your chances of winning the grand prize!
The Prize
The most important part of any competition...the motivation behind creativity...the prize! This month, the build competition will feature TWO prizes. The Grand Prize, given to the build that wins the vote, will be the Emperor's Throne Room Diorama (75352), valued at $160 AUD.

A prize will be also awarded to one lucky participant, chosen at random from users who participate in voting for the best build. This prize will be the 2020 501st Legion Battle Pack (75280), a retired set that now is valued at approximately $80 AUD. A must-have for clone army builders with a great line-up of minifigures and Republic vehicles, including the AT-RT and BARC speeder.

How It Works
Entries can be submitted in the Builder Club beginning July 1st and will close on the 18th of July. The theme for this build competition is simply Return of the Jedi. Now, this does not mean that it has to be from the movie, it can be anything occurring during the events of the Return of Jedi. So, time to open up the Star Wars fandom wiki and check your dates! For those that are considering out-of-movie builds, 4ABY is the approximate timeframe.
Voting will begin on the 19th of July, closing on the 21st of July. The entrant with the most votes on their build will win. Entry and voting can only be participated in by users with an active Brick News subscription. The community of subscribers will be entirely responsible for voting the winner. In the event of a tie, the Brick News director Frase will vote and break the tie. Otherwise, Brick News will have no involvement in voting for the winner.
The winner will receive a special website badge for their profile to show that they won the build competition, and will be contacted via phone or email to discuss details on shipping the prize.
Rules
All participants in the July 2023 build competition must be subscribed to Brick News in order to submit an entry and/or participate in voting for the winner.
Currently, participation is available to those residing in Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Canada, England and Belgium. Members of a country outside of those listed are allowed to participate as long as the laws and regulations of the jurisdiction they reside in also allow them to enter.
Each participant can enter once, but can edit or resubmit their entry multiple times until the entry period closes. An entry is 1-3 photos of a custom built Star Wars-themed Return of the Jedi MOC (My Own Creation).
The winning build will be voted on by the community. Each Brick News subscriber will be able to vote on one set.
Entrants to the competition agree that their name may be published for a minimum of 30 days on www.BrickNews.com.au if they win the competition.
The entry period is the 1st of July to the 18th of July. Entries outside of these dates or not eligible.
The announcement of the winner will follow within 7 days.
Tips and Ideas
Below are some ideas for what you could potentially be building as a MOC. These are drawn from the movie, but again, any event happening concurrently could be submitted.

The infamous scene of Vader's arrival upon the assuredly fully operational Death Star II may be a good idea for those wanting an imperial touch to their MOC.

Another idea may be any of the multiple scenes that occur around Jabba's Palace, a location favoured by LEGO designers. A good use of any Boba Fett's Starship (Slave I*) Leia minifigures you may have!

For those of you fleet builders out there, you may enjoy a MOC depicting the staging grounds around Sullust. Those lucky enough to have a Nebulon-B frigate from SDCC could choose to dust it off and subtly flex on those of us who don't!

Finally, the pivotal scene centred around Vader's redemption and the return of Anakin Skywalker may pique the interest of those of you more emotionally invested in the themes and arcs of the Star Wars original trilogy.
If you have any questions regarding the competition, feel free to comment below, message us via the Live Chat button on our site, or email us at info@bricknews.co and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. Good luck!
