If you are wanting to win some Indiana Jones LEGO, then start building! This month there are 3 sets up for grabs in the build competition, with the grand prize being the Temple of the Golden Idol (77015), valued at A$239.99.
There are currently about 270 subscribers, but only 7 people entered the build comp last month!
With 3 prizes available, it might be your best chance to win a LEGO set if there are similar numbers this month.
“But what should I build?” I hear you ask… “I’m not creative” you may say… “What if I don’t have the right type of LEGO for the theme?” Your concerns should not concern you… for I am here to help.
If you are wondering what to build, well, you can build anything Indiana Jones related. You could build a recreation of an existing scene from an Indiana Jones movie, book or game… or you could build your own creation of somewhere Indiana Jones would likely visit, such as a village, temple or something else. I might suggest a famous scene, because if it is recognisable then you may gain votes for that… but on the other hand, if you built a massive temple in a jungle then that could also impress the voters, even if it looks nothing like any temple in the movies.
I don’t believe creativity will always win you a build competition either, as the voters may be swayed by any little thing you may throw into the build. You could try copying a picture of a scene, so you don’t need to imagine up anything… or you could just throw a bunch of LEGO plants into a scene and call it a jungle. Something funny in the scene might be the key to a win too. You know what? For all I know, other builders who vote could decide to vote for the build they think is worst, to enhance their own chances… but that might be the vote that gets you a prize! So don’t give up before your build even begins.
I would also suggest building something that suits the LEGO bricks you have; no point in building a jungle if you don’t have any LEGO plants. A rock wall could be all you need for a tunnel, and rocks can be a range of colours, or maybe you have the LEGO needed to build a car chase, or a museum. Any minifigure could represent the characters, though Indy would rarely be without his hat, but a scene with no characters visible is a perfectly fine option as well.
What’s your most memorable moment from an Indiana Jones movie? Mine is the scene with Indy having to choose the correct cup… maybe you could build your own favourite scene, then at least you have had some fun and have your favourite scene depicted in LEGO even if you miss out on a prize this time. I've included pictures to give you ideas too, you can thank me in your winners' speech ;)
Join the Builder Club now, so you can submit pictures of your build and/or vote for builds by other entrants. Voters also have a random chance of winning a LEGO poly bag too.
The August build competition entry period will close on the 22nd of August, so have your 3 photos submitted in the Build Club by then. Voting will occur from the 23rd to the 25th of August.
The rules for the build competition are as follows:
1. Your build can be a recreation of an existing scene from an Indiana Jones movie, book or game OR it can be your own creation that you believe Indiana Jones would likely visit (such as a village, temple or something else).
2. Your build does not have to have an Indiana Jones minifigure in it, you can use other figures or none at all if you want.
3. You should submit exactly three photos of your build to the Builder Club. If you upload your build to Instagram, ping the @bricknewsco page and it may be reshared. Extra photos are permitted to Instagram but won't be shown in our site gallery.
4. Racism is not tolerated on our website. In the Indiana Jones movies, there are some symbols and cultures presented which may be alarming to some. In the interest of creative freedom, you may be able to show these symbols or cultures in your build, but we request that you contact info@bricknews.co first with details of the symbolism you intend to display in your build. We may approve or deny these requests.
5. All photos must be of the same build, you cannot make multiple different builds.
6. Each builder can enter the build competition once. Resubmissions are permitted but the old submission must be deleted.
7. Plagiarism is not permitted. If your build is found submitted by a different person online, or is mostly comprised of an existing LEGO set, your build competition entry will be ineligible and may be removed. Repeated plagiarism may result in a cancellation of your Brick News subscription.
