The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr Set Reportedly Delayed

Writer: FraseFrase

After waiting a decade for a new Lord of the Rings set to release, fans were overjoyed when the LEGO Icons: Rivendell set released in May 2023, providing over twenty prominent protagonist minifigures from the Fellowship of the Ring. Now, it looks like fans will have to do some more waiting. The rumoured Barad-dûr set was supposedly going to release between March and June of 2024. However, it appears it may have been delayed to the second half of 2024.

LEGO's plan to release a Barad-dûr set was first revealed when user JeanGreyForever revealed images from an online survey in February 2023 hosted by the LEGO Company. The user also posted the a leaked image of Rivendell, which was confirmed to be legitimate when the set was revealed months later and looked identical to the leaked image.

It should be noted that the above image is likely a render and may not accurately represent how the final set will look, so take it with a grain of salt. Among the sets leaked by JeanGreyForever were also the Sorting Hat, which has just been found on shelves overseas and also looked identical in the leaked photos. This means the user leaked accurate images over 10 months before the set's official release.

We'll keep you posted on further Lord of the Rings leaks - Brick News will be hosting Barad-dûr in a future monthly draw, subject to the set's release.
