Sorting Lego
The age-old question, and one I asked when I got back into LEGO - how do you sort it?
The answer is simple: the best way for you. Everyone has a different method.
The basic decision is colour or type. I sort by type. If there's enough of an item, it gets divided by colour. Transparent is a type of it's own in my world. I like shiny things.
So. I'm riddled with anxieties and am slightly anally retentive. I have to know where EVERYTHING is before I can get started on something. Which I have now concluded is impossible when it comes to LEGO.
I've decided to draw a line and accept my fate.
That said, I've now made myself a spreadsheet to help me with my organisation. The link for which is here.
As you can see, I use a myriad of containers. Draws to divided containers - whatever suits the purpose.
Will any of my ideas work for you? Maybe. Probably not. I've been figuring this out for about 5 years now, and I keep changing my mind. It's evolving as the collection grows.
Anyway, thought I'd share and see what other ideas are out there.
PS: the categories are based on the Brick Architect's label system. He doesn't cover every part, just the most commonly used, but he's helped me refine my own categories. that's important to note: these are my adaptations of his categories which are adaptations of LEGO's. Rebrickable, BrickLink, etc etc all have their own systems too. Mad world, innit?

It looks quite helpful, thanks for sharing this! Ideally, I would want more than 100 pieces in each bag though so I don't end up with many small bags everywhere😅. I wonder if it will let me scan multiple times and just add to the same bag?
